Also, I don't get why Legendary should be within a range of numbers. Isn't this a little unfair?

I don't see what's unfair about it since there are no advantages (besides the colored coin) that come with the membership. I think that a bit of suspense can be fun Tongue

but this thread doesn't mention the required merits, only the activity.
Probably cause this thread was originally created as far back as 2013 when there was no merit points required to rank up, it was edited later with a link to the merit requirements for the different ranks;

Update on 9/19/18: Merit points are now added
In addition to the activity points, merit points (click for more information) are required to advance your ranking.

Also, I don't get why Legendary should be within a range of numbers. Isn't this a little unfair?
Could be a means of adding a bit of drama to the rank as users are unsure of when exactly they would hit the unique activity points for their account to get to legendary status, so it is like a lottery spin every activity period.
It may be considered unfair to some users who have to wait really long to get to the the apex rank.

Where exactly does it say the merits that are needed for Hero and Legendary? I remember Full member being at least 100 merits, but this thread doesn't mention the required merits, only the activity.

Also, I don't get why Legendary should be within a range of numbers. Isn't this a little unfair?

Take a look in FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit

Also, I don't get why Legendary should be within a range of numbers. Isn't this a little unfair?

Because it is a privilege to become a Legendary. Not everyone deserves it. Someone just need a bit more proof to become one, while others rank-up quicker. That, I think, is the reason why it is a range of activity to become a Legendary.

What is the significance of the 'hat' avatars?

I was asked if I wanted one. I had a nice photo of the new world trade center being built. Someone did a photo shop and here it is.

It's a secrety cult inside the forum. We have a special board where we discuss our next conspiracy plans.

Also, What's with the hats???

If a brand new member posts everyday, after how many days will he get the Jr Member rank?

2 weeks exactly? I'm building a rank calculator and I would like to know if the activity changes every 2 weeks. (if the member will post everyday)
What matters the most is the maximum potential activity. If I post at least once every activity period (~14 days), my maximum activity increases by 14. My post count fills this maximum potential activity and it becomes my current activity if I have enough posts.

Example:

- I have 10 posts and 0 activity.
- I post once today (my first post in this period).
- I will get 10 activity points (maximum potential of 14, but only have 10 posts).
- If I post another 4 times, my activity increases to 14 (total of 14 posts, 14 activity).
- If I post another 4 time (18 posts), my acitivity won't increase. It will remain at 14.

In the next period, if I post 1 time, my maximum potential will increase by another 14 (now 28). So, I had 18 posts and made another one (total of 19). My activity will go to 19. If I keep posting, it will keep increasing with my posts until I hit the 28 posts (maximum activity).

Now for the mathematical formula:

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

To answer your question:

"If a brand new member posts everyday, after how many days will he get the Jr Member rank?"

- Answer: At least 29 days. Posting at least once in the last day of one of the 14 days period (+14 potential activity) and posting at least once in the next 2 periods (+14 x 2 potential activity) = total of 42 potential activity. Then, making at least 30 posts and getting 1 merit.

That's because you have only 91 merits. In order to become Full Member you need to fulfill two conditions: to have 120 activity points and to have 100 merits.

You can find here all the rank up criteria for each rank.

Hi, I'm a newbie, and what I need to do to increase my activity and merit? Thanks in advance Wink
Short version:
- Be somehow active and create high-quality posts.

Long version:
- Kindly read the following threads:

Exactly, being interactive with threads in which you post, instead of posting vague questions that appears that you did not read shit before posting should be helpful, if you really have genuine interests in the topic and attempt to contribute substance members will likely perceive that and both activity and merit will build with the passage of time.

Really, the promotions are difficult, as they ask you to draw the attention of others to your posts! And this is difficult
It's not hard brother. Just put a little effort in your posts and help out other members around the forum.. The rest will be history.
Take an example of me, The Merit system was introduced in January 2018. In fact i had even given up posting in the forum because of this but later on in June, i decided to start making serious posts and my first Merit was in November. It has never been the same since then.

How does the ranking work? if i be active here will i get high merits ?

Depends of the "quality" of your activity. If you post just a random gibberish you won't get higher than a Newbie. If you manage to contribute something valuable to the community, you will probably get to Member and above. It's all up to you. Before you do anything, read the rules. This is not an ordinary forum.

Can you create an animated png?
Yes, you can.

However, Theymos disabled Animated avatars from getting uploaded after some complaints from members. It's only members who have never changed their animated avatar since the time they were disabled who still have theirs working, such as

After posting in another thread [earlier today] about a related topic, I noticed a part of "Signature restrictions" is still outdated...

The description part for the "Avatars" sections needs a little update as well...
