Say a 1080ti = 700h/s for Zcash = $700 USD

An rx 470, if you undervolt to 1000 core/1750 mem/800mv gives 220 - 240h/s and power draw of 50 - 65W from wall I think? Efficiency is still worse than 1080ti (not that much worse though), but we can buy 4 - 5 Rx 470 for the price of a single 1080ti.

I won't be getting any rx 570's or rx 580's until the fall.

I need to cut back for the June 1 to Oct 1   power rates 2x say 9.7 to 19 cents a kwatt.

When the vegas come out I will get one or two.

I am doing nvidia and zec  for 4 or 5 months.

Yeah - I forgot about your seasonal sale of cards due to power cost rise.

I'm very intrigued on Nvidia 1080ti cards. There is a possibility to buy MSI GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition for ~$600. Only thing I hate - to find a person who can mod BIOS for me. Usually it is at least 0.2 BTC (which does not make sense for one card only).

Where can you find a card for $600? For that price, I may finally jump in

okay  there are serval reasons I picked those cpu's  they are the t version and will save power.  I use better t models and did not mention them because they are more costly .  i5 6400t  are really good and I get them around 120 usd on eBay .

I can get away with this   because  I buy and sell them on eBay.  They are one of the few things  that buyers find hard to cheat you with when you sell them on eBay.

i like newer mobos the z270 or b250

vs the older mobos.  If you are building 10 rigs and putting in 15k usd to build them  six card rigs make sense

If you are doing 1 rig I don't think a six card rig is the way to go.

lets say  you buy this mobo build a six card rig and the expensive psu dies  all six gpus are not mining

and you will need a new psu.  and those big ass psu's cost money.

I don't knock six card rigs but they are loud  as they are really fucking hot.

my 3 card rigs are quiet and not hot and evga 750 p2 plats  can be had for 125 on sale while the evga 1600 p2 plat

is over 350.  so I can buy 3 psus for the price of one.

if you run smOS for your rig  a 10 dollar usb stick does the job.  no windows involved .

there are os for nvidia but I am pretty new with nvidia so I am using windows 7

Phil,

Are you jumping in RX 5xx madness Smiley ?

I'm waiting for results with modded ROMs - but as we know you are strictly against it.

Any plans to try new AMD cards?

My AR-15 ID's itself as a toaster. Want breakfast?
The big part about 6 80 series cards, is they do put out some heat;  and they are large heatsyncs on them.   Be sure to have good fans to cool the box they are in, or if open air, you should be fine.

The machine that we built out of a rosewell case;  got VERY hot very quick;  would start to thermal throttle.   Needed to upgrade to high CFM fans to combat that.

No need to screw with the fan curves much;  just work on the airflow around the cards and keeping fresh air going to them and you should be fine.

Okay just set up this card with a 1080ti

my rigs point to nicehash
note the panda rigs are amds not panda rigs as I sold them.

Hello again people, since the last thread has been closed i'll quote myself.
You've got a nice setup there @Philipma1957. Smiley

Hello people!!

I been for days reading all posts related and I would like to thank you all for all the great info you're sharing here.

I always been thinking about having my own setup and after reading you it's like I feel ready to spend some cash and atleast give it a try and see how it works.

I'm from Spain, Europe, and some pieces of the gear you recommend along this threads are out of stock and there's no way of obtaining them, especially the MSI Z270 board and ASROCK BTC.
So I still don't know what motherboard I could take (I just choose one, but I think it's too expensive and there should be something cheaper), some advice would be really appreciated.

I think I'm going to start with this:

PSU x1: EVGA-220-P2-1600W ---------------  Evga 1300 g2    this is much lower cost and really is a better choice for 3 1080ti gpus

GPU x3: Nvidia 1080 GTX TI   ----------------   okay

CPU x1: Intel-BX80662G4400-Pentium-LGA1151 --- okay    can you find g4560t or g4600t

MEM x1: Kingston-KVR21N15S8 ---- okay

MB x1: ASRock-Z270-Pro4 -------- can you find this ?  https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GA-Z270P-D3-Crossfire-Motherboard-Motherboards/dp/B01N2V0AHI/ref=sr_1_1?

Somehow if I end up seeing it good and my thoughts are to try to finish the first rig with 6x nvidia 1080 gtx ti, that's why I take that PSU. And also took nvidia for power saving, noise, heat, assorment of algorithms and the most important thing, being capable of outpowering any other gpu in the market.

What are your thoughts for starting and give it a try? Would you change something? Like going RX 580 instead of Nvidia? Motherboard?
Any minor detail to save some money? Smiley

Thanks again and sorry if there's any mistake since my english is not perfect.

First of all, the G4560T or G4600T are more expensive(€50 or 80€ more) that the one I posted atleast here in Europe, so i'm a bit confused since I haven't seen that you use CPU for mining. So I keep trying on taking the cheapest CPU I can find.

Secondly, the Motherboard isn't available also Sad , I been reading you for days trying out all setups commented but there's no stock. So it has to be any MB not commented before.
I checked once again by previous comments and thankfully I saw that I was mistaken with my MB too.

So If anyone knows about any other MOBO which is not the MSI Z270, ASROCK BTC, GIGABYTE Z270 and it's kinda cheap, please tell me Smiley

@Philipma1957, why do you think it's not a good idea to have a rig of 5x or 6x nvidia cards? It makes even more expensive to have two rigs with 3x nvidia since I have to take another CPU, MB, MEM and PSU.
Is there any other reason I don't know?
Would be capable the EVGA 1200W of taking care of a 6x overclocked nvidia cards? I think it won't, but yep for the initial 3x it would go.

Thanks for all the other replys @JaredKaragen and @vapourminer, about the risers I knew it but forgot to mention at the post I made. I've got a seller for that, there's no problem Smiley)
Also I got some old HDD that I could use to mount. So I think I won't be buying any SSD, unless you tell me that does affect or somehow improves performance on mining.

And well, thanks everyone for the warm welcome, I really appreciate the feedback.
