Because of compounding interest.
The two investments are not identical ... you'll have to continually withdraw some of the interest money to keep your "internal insurance fund" equal in size to the deposit.

nimda, don't worry. I made several deposits until now and only first time I jumped on F5 every 3 mins

I don't remember how many confirmations takes but I've waited more than 1 hour. Now I just send coins and on next day I log in again to see the deposit is fine.
