if you are looking after current scenario than it is better to invest major portion in top 5 coin like btc eth. here major portion mean 70%. rest you can invest in altcoin because if your altcoin work then you can get return many times. so by diversifying your portfolio you can get good return and reduce your risk

It's hard to pinpoint bottoms and tops so simply purchase at whatever point you have the assets to do as such. I wuld stay away from ICOs though,atleast at the moment,but it aint bad time to buy some ETH or BTC.
