The case of the topic about the strategic reserve, on the contrary, has more to do with my background but I understand that it can be hard for some people, although not impossible. Anyway, if you or other AoBTers feel that this topic is not for you, I agree that it's much better to skip this task instead of translating it without understanding what you're writing.

Well, it was from my own point of view. I did understood the topic though. Anyway, I'm sure we have many capable people at AOBT who will finish it in no time. Best of luck everyone.  Tongue

Side note to GB

I have been meaning to ask you this for many days. Since when did you mastered yourself in multi language? I noticed you have been posting all around the world in different languages. Planing to steal our jobs as translators?  Roll Eyes  (being sarcastic)

Regarding BCA 2024, should we translate "Custom title" part also? I noticed some of the AOBTers did that and some didn't. Even I kept it in English the previous year.

Side note to DrBeer

Hats off to you man! Having doing 2 difficult translations in a row shows how amazing you are.  Wink

Dear friends,

I'm glad to announce that our new member M47AK16 has been added to our Hall of Fame in our OP at last.

Congratulations, our new Indian friend. I hope you'll keep making us feel proud for your incorporation. Keep up the good work Smiley
Thankyou so much Porfirii for the update.
I am pretty confident about positive contributions & will continue to do so without hesitation.
My current job consumes most of my time so am rarely active here but will still keep on checking & translating new threads on weekends.

Thankyou everyone for welcoming me over here & giving me the opportunity.

Hey Chilwell, I took a look at your translation... but as far as I see, it doesn't mirror exactly the BCA topic... Can you correct your translation, please...?
Thanks for letting me know, i will try to correct that before this week run out.
I want to let you know that I have fix it. Thanks

The Spanish translator and friend Csmiami is not very active lately, but he connected yesterday so chances are that he is aware of this request.

No need to say that I'm willing to create a new thread or reply with the latest changes in the original Spanish thread, but let's see if he reads your message first and can update the original OP, as that would be the best solution by far for this legendary topic about our Community Awards.

He didn't reply to my PM... I think best thing to do is to create another Spanish translation... After all, they won't be duplicate posts, since the new design of current BCA thread is very different from the previous one. As a plus, cygan's new German translation was added already by icopress inside the main BCA thread... Also, dkbit98 made a new Croatian translation to replace the old one of FatFork's, so there would be no issue if you would do another Spanish translation as well.

OK, I'll translate and post the new version of this topic. It's a pity otherwise, because I think that in our local that thread hasn't been updated since 2022. I'll dig a little more into it however, maybe another member created a more recent one that has gone unnoticed by us.

Done! the new version for this year's contest is now available in Spanish: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/votacion-de-2024-premios-de-la-comunidad-de-bitcointalk-5526863  Smiley

DrBeer, you made an impressive work to translate this huge topic twice! Wow! As always, big congrats to you!

Side note, you left this Russian translation in the Archival board... Can you move it, please, to Russian local board?\

Thanks for appreciating the translations Smiley
But the topic is very interesting and very well written, so it should be brought to people in as many languages as possible !
In a bit of a hurry, mistakenly pasted the link from the “draft” in the archive. Fixed the link!

I agree! Although someone said that this is a difficult topic, I think that it is imperative to share that info with as many members as possible, because of the repercussions it can have on the Bitcoin scene. And you even translated it into two languages, which shows that with a little motivation it is a perfectly manageable task, thank you DrBeer.

Please, don't forget to share your translations of this topic also in fillippone's thread. With regard to the Ukrainian and Russian translations, I've already posted them there: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.64966309.

Yes DS, understanding what you're translating is a must if you want to communicate effectively the ideas you are translating.

In my case, I have had some problems in the past understanding a few very technical topics which involved coding because my profile is not technical, but I'm happy with the results thanks to patience and interest.

I recommend [overview] Recover Bitcoin from any old storage format by LoyceV, as many people ask about this in beginners and help, and perhaps they should try reading this topic first.

However, I would recommend to try to get more translations for fillippone's topic first... because it's long and having multiple threads to translate can, perhaps, add some pressure on the shoulders of our dear AOBTers, which may feel overwhelmed at the thought that they have to translate that long topic and also another one... What do you guys think?

I proposed that because in previous similar occasions (the "monster" topic being the most memorable) some members preferred to make easier translations in the meantime, while they finished harder ones; and on the other hand, while they are not mandatory, having alternatives can be positive.

And because I already finished it and need more Cheesy but it has easy solution, I will continue with your topic series Wink

I don't know if you guys have this moral code "First understand, then translate" but I'm assuming you guys do, because you guys are the Pros. With me, everytime I do a translation I always try to understand the author first, what they were trying to express to the audience and so on. It helped me a lot actually. I'm learning on one side and translating on the other side. And regarding LV's topic, I took a glimpse look, and found there are a lot of technical things (fun stuff actually) that I never knew and unaware of. Normal because I'm not a genius obviously. What I'm trying to say is that whenever we try to translate something, we as a translator first has to realize it's importance and how it works. If we do that, the job becomes a lot of easier and fun.

If a topic isn't within my knowledge realm, I try to learn it first. But if I can't I simply avoid it. Like husna's monster topic.  Wink

Just my 2 sats...

Dear AOBTers, the 2024 edition of BCA has just been launched.

Therefore, I and icopress are kindly asking all the translators of BCA to update their translations, as this year we have new categories.

[quote=" Discuss in [Eng][Rom][Ger][Por][Ita][Spa][Cro][Pid][Rus][Ban][Pol]Last year's [Results] Quiz 2025 new [Live]

So this should be in the attention of the following AOBT users: Gazeta, Chilwell, DS and cygan. I will contact the other translators myself.

Howdy AOBT and GazetaBitcoin. Currently doing the translation will be share to you this week for approval  Wink

Edit: I would like to Announce that I'm done with the translation to our local.

Thank you for shedding some lights to it

I am glad that I could help... Smiley

I'll get on it asap!

Okay!

here we go!

Thanks for this translation, cygan! And thank you, Porf, for moving the topic to "Finished" section! Now we have only two topics in progress.

I will translate 1miau's topic.

Yay! In this case, this will be the tenth translation for this topic as well, thus we will finish it too.

Soon we'll only have one translation in progress, so feel free to discuss which one of the previously mentioned by Gazeta and DS

What DS suggested, in fact, was to pick some topics from that thread of tranthidung, thus we'd have more topics for being translated in the future... he didn't mean to translate that topic itself:

Since nobody knows, I was the one who originally proposed that topic to Porf via PM. But I'm guessing there has been some kind of mis-communications here. When I made the proposal, what I really meant was that, we should use that specific topic to look for potential topics for translations.

(sorry if I forget about the others)

No worries, here are the other ones as well Smiley

And, from that list, you suggested to add this one as next topic in our "In Progress" section:

I recommend [overview] Recover Bitcoin from any old storage format by LoyceV, as many people ask about this in beginners and help, and perhaps they should try reading this topic first.

However, I would recommend to try to get more translations for fillippone's topic first... because it's long and having multiple threads to translate can, perhaps, add some pressure on the shoulders of our dear AOBTers, which may feel overwhelmed at the thought that they have to translate that long topic and also another one... my polish translation of 1miau's topic MLM – a dangerous marketing strategy is now finished and can be accessed here:

MLM - niebezpieczna strategia marketingowa

Thank you cygan Smiley translation added and topic moved to the list of the finished ones.

Soon we'll only have one translation in progress, so feel free to discuss which one of the previously mentioned by Gazeta and DS (sorry if I forget about the others) you want to translate next. Maybe an easy one, as it seems that the current topic by fillippone will already involve a little extra effort.

Well... this is a particular situation, since you don't have a local board... sigh... But what you can do is to edit your translation... add the new content... Then simply quote your old translation (by making a new post) and write in that post something like BCA 2024 was just launched... please read the quoted post (which contains your translation).

Thank you for shedding some lights to it, I'll get on it asap! And also for the method for posting! :-]

Sorry for asking again. I didn't pay much attention when you mentioned me the last time. By update, did you mean we just replace the previous year's post with the new changes?

Yes.

Or do we make a separate post/translation? Like BCA 2025 edition?

No.

I am only asking this because we don't have any local boards yet (the Bangla community). So I won't be able to bump my previous year's BCA 2024 translation or anything of the sort. I don't know how! Honestly, I'm a little confused here...  Huh

At first I thought the same as you did, that it's a separate post. But when I realize the message said "update" that's when I started having doubts. Furthermore, porf didn't add the topic in "Translation in progress" which made my doubts more.

Porf did not add the topic to translations in progress because it was already in the "Finished" section:

FINISHED translations:

The topic is already translated in at least 10 languages... so there is no need to add it to "In progress" section. It's only needed that the translators to update their existing translations.

(Don't be offended with my sarcastic response, you know I have always been like this, I like to joke around whenever I can..)

No worries Smiley I have a great sense of humor!
