Dear Porf,

I would like to propose a new topic. I believe it's of great use not only to us but also to the whole crypto community. And who doesn't wanna save a little money for the future. I do! As always, Gazeta is two steps ahead, he already did the translation in Română. I believe we have to ask for permission from the OP first but I'm not sure if we can get a hold on 1miau. Well, you guys do that if you can. I'm just proposing, you know! Also, I'm not sure whether you'll deem this topic to be useful or not or up to date. I'll just leave it in your good hands.

Make sure to avoid wasting BTC for too high fees – step by step guide (Electrum) by 1miau

That's unfortunate DS Sad you can't continue like this, and you can't translate in such a small screen either!

Let's talk via PM, maybe I can help you.
Thank you for your kind words Porfi. I really appreciate it.

Do you know I actually started my translator journey using a mobile phone? The first topic I translated originally belonged to Gazeta (remembering old days, emotional smile Smiley ). If he hadn't gave me that chance at that time, then I wouldn't have become a member of AOBT right now. And I was the only exception user (newbie) whom he allowed to translate his topics, except me all the others were high ranked users! TBH He was strict at first  Lips sealed but later I realized he wasn't, he was just very dedicated with his topics. And at that time I used to translate all by using a mobile phone. Around 50% of my translations are done with mobile! I know managing all those BBCodes can be a pain in the ass, but still somehow I managed.

The reason why I'm telling you this is to let you know that, even though, it's tough, as long as I understand the topic and if it's within my abilities, I will continue...

-DS

Dear DS, you are the living image of the Spanish saying: those who want to do more than those who can. A great attitude in the face of life's adversities that will take you far.

I know what you mean because I also have to post from my smartphone from time to time, and editing the BBcode is a pain as you said Cheesy but I always reserve translations for moments of greater tranquility in front of the computer. I can't imagine translating thousands of words in a small screen, honestly, so you have my most sincere admiration, although I hope your problems with your screen are solved soon and you don't have to do it like this out of obligation.

Topic added to the list of translations in process.

Thank you for adding the new topic, Porf.

I already finished the Romanian translation, which can be found here.

Updated! so fast, thank you Gazeta Smiley

At same time, I also announced witcher_sense that we are working on his topic. I hope this is a nice surprise for him Smiley

[Later edit: it seems we both announced him, lol]

Like Bitcoin, it's better the excess than the lack I guess Grin

Hey DS, have you fixed it already? or are you writing from somewhere else? I'm glad to see you here again Smiley

Nope! Using mobile phone to write... Cry

I think we should still receive 3 translations for the existing topics... one from you, one from cygan and one from DS...?
I have been thinking about that topic (silent payment) for quite some time. Watched Youtube videos regarding the topic, did some research online. But unfortunately couldn't make up any time for that.

To be honest, I was quite sad because my laptop display partially got damaged recently, so I stopped using the laptop and the forum. As a result 16 days of inactivity. (Depressed smile  Smiley).

Yup, I agree. Let's wait just one day or two just in case other members raise any objections or want to propose a different topic instead, and I'll add it to the list (an announce that the vacations are officially over Cry).

Topic added to the list of translations in process. The holidays are over, let's get back to work! Wink

A member of my Localboard had translated it already and I taught it would be good to pass also to our various locals.

Hatchy, could you share the link to the thread you mentioned, so I can add it to the list?

BTW, the topics by @fillippone are great—well, not just great, but super informative, very technical, kind of like a priceless gems. Also, some of the topics are monstrous in size. Man, those topics are hard for me to understand properly (just expressing my own opinion). And I think others like me feel the same. You have to be very knowledgeable to be able to understand and grasp the concepts properly. Hats off to those who are able to do that. Wink

This one is my most favorite. Really liked how he showed everything step by step, from A to Z.

It is really impressive the creativity of the project itself and the level of detail with which he documents the entire process. It's really worth sharing and I'm willing to translate it, but it will take a lot of work from all of us, so I leave it to your consideration. Please, comment below.

even if they are not suitable candidates for the AoBT anymore, translating some of these topics into Spanish on my own Cool

Ohhhh... what a nice surprise...! Thank you...thank you so much!
In this case, as you see, out of 16 topics, only two are translated in Spanish, therefore you can pick whichever you wish from the remaining 14 Smiley I have one small request though, as I also stated inside my thread -- to send me a preview of the translation before publishing it.

Hey! Good to know it Gazeta! I will write them in Archival and ask for your approval before posting them in Local  Wink

I came across this post by @witcher_sense recently. It's concern signing Bitcoin messages. A member of my Localboard had translated it already and I taught it would be good to pass also to our various locals.

Since we don't have any other topic in progress, I believe we can add this one. Besides, as witcher_sense's reputation precedes him, this topic is also very interesting and brings a lot of valuable information.

Done! I already added it at the top of the post, below the author and title, but you are right that changing the title of the post is much more informative

Thank you, Porf! I also updated the translated title inside my OP / the original thread and inside the link where I announced your translation.

Dear AoBTers,

Today is August 31 and that means that we will be back from holidays very soon (add an emoji that represents conflicting feelings here).

Thus, we'll need fresh proposals for new topics to be translated Smiley

Feel free to make your suggestions in the coming days (or I'll choose unilaterally one of Gazeta's topics Tongue).

As promised, I have just finished my translation into Basque of the topic about block explorers. Added to the list of finished translations with the code EUS (Euskara), which I like much more than BAS (Basque).

Thank you, Porf! I added the translation to OP, to the foot notes of the original thread and I also announced it here.

I have a small mention though: can you edit your post name, please? And instead of "Re: Euskara (Basque)" add the topic title (translated in this language, of course)...?

Done! I already added it at the top of the post, below the author and title, but you are right that changing the title of the post is much more informative (we don't have such problems in local boards as we are obliged to set a title por each topic).

I think that I can help with that Wink

Of course, what I meant is that this is not an impediment to start looking for new topics for the rest of the team.

Feel free to make your suggestions in the coming days (or I'll choose unilaterally one of Gazeta's topics Tongue).

Dear Porf, I am very flattered by thinking about choosing one of my topics for a future translation... But, sadly, I don't think my topics will be suitable... And I will explain why, of course... Looking at my thread containing topics to be translated you can see that all of them already have 10 translations and some of them have even more than 10... If you'll choose a topic of mine, it would need to be translated only in a few languages, such as Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish and Ukrainian. Besides these languages, my topics were already translated in all other languages where we have translators (Pidgin, Indonesian, Filipino, French, Urdu, Bangla and Russian).

-snip-

I think that I can help with that Wink

But I believe you can shoose a topic involving more translators, perhaps...? For example, if we look at fillippone's thread, we can see that he has multiple threads there with only a few translations, such as "NERDMINER: Bitcoin lottery miners", "Giovanni Santostasi - The Bitcoin Power Law Theory", "Everything you wanted to know about ES Volcano Bond and were afraid to ask!" and a few others as well. In any case, remember, fillippone's threads are very long; very useful but also very long, thus it will be a great effort for the translators. I translated all his topics and I know their length...

In the Spanish board activity decreased a lot in the last years but at least the atmosphere has always been good there in general, and the few active members who survive get along very well.

And you also have there one of the forums true pillars -- Ddmr...

Ddmr is our best standard-bearer and the greatest local pride without a doubt! Unfortunately his activity decreased in the last months, and, although a few other members continue to have high-level technical conversations, his absence is noticeable.

Russian, Turkish or Indonesian boards seem to be much more active. I wonder what things will be like over there.

I believe that Russian board is the most active local board from the entire forum... And it's also the biggest (in number of users). However, I have no knowledge about the situation from other local boards.

I share the same feelings as you. Local boards are true watertight compartments for the foreigners.

And then we have this melting pot of cultures called AoBT Grin

90% of posts are off-topic, produced by 3 members who argue non-stop (for years now with always the same arguments) about Islam, terrorism, immigrants and antisemitism.

I know the situation from French local board...

so I understand why all the people interested to discuss BTC just stopped to post.

At least you still have Becassine there... Roll Eyes

More than 50% of our "active posters" are already on my ignore list anyway.

Loooooooool!

The mod is cool and does his job well, but unfortunately he can neither transplant a brain onto those members, nor give them any interest in discussing BTC-related stuff. He has opened several topics to try to calm this tendency to hijack all the topics, but it doesn't change.

Yes, I also remember Halab's attempts... and his topics from Meta...

And this is even more sad, Porf... Inside Romanian board, ~99% of posts are made by me and NeuroticFish...

It's almost the same in the French section...

There must be 5 or 6 of us who are "active"...
90% of posts are off-topic, produced by 3 members who argue non-stop (for years now with always the same arguments) about Islam, terrorism, immigrants and antisemitism. They give to the board a depressive mood, since no matter what they discuss, they'll fall back into their arguments about Arabs and terrorism ; so I understand why all the people interested to discuss BTC just stopped to post.

The overall level of interractions is appalling, I'm not far from just ignoring the local FR entirely at times. More than 50% of our "active posters" are already on my ignore list anyway.

As you say, there are also lurkers and our translations can potentially help some of them, so it's fine.

I'm really sorry to hear that Sad it must be depressing to be so lonely or to have some local section mates like that. Your work has double the merit.

In the Spanish board activity decreased a lot in the last years but at least the atmosphere has always been good there in general, and the few active members who survive get along very well. I wanted that situation to be the same in the rest of local boards, but after your comments it is clear that it is not in all of them.
