A while ago I proposed translating the thread of a service - AgoraDesk - since it was a service meant to protect users' privacy. I was glad the topic was accepted, for the reason I provided. Having this in mind, I would like to propose now the translation of Jambler thread, which has same purpose as AgoraDesk: protect people's privacy and anonymity. As a plus, this service was allowed by theymos to not be censored on the forum, so it's fully respecting all forum rules.
Sounds like a good idea, GB. Users' privacy and anonymity should be above all. And since this service is allowed by theymos himself, we should have no restrictions or issues translating the Jambler thread. I'm sure other members would also agree. What do you think Porf? Wink

In the comment, he said that there is a specific topic for users to post their Bitcoin address to help in the future recover their Bitcointalk account if it was hacked or lost. I didn't know this topic existed and that's why I thought it was important to share it with you guys Smiley. Here's the topic - Stake your Bitcoin address here
As far as I know, it is not necessarily required to post your BTC address in that specific topic. It can be any topic or thread as long as your post is un-edited and intact.

I would like to share a comment that user @joker_josue made on the topic that i translated about how to recover your Bitcointalk account.

In the comment, he said that there is a specific topic for users to post their Bitcoin address to help in the future recover their Bitcointalk account if it was hacked or lost.

I didn't know this topic existed and that's why I thought it was important to share it with you guys Smiley

Regarding using LB's keys or our own, I think that each translator should make that decision himself.

Gazeta and Hatchy are right when they say that translations usually should mirror the original (the contrary may mean distorting the original), but in this case it can be positive too to share our own keys if it encourages the participation in the local boards, and if LB agrees with these changes in the OP.

So, unless other members reason that it must be translated one way and not another, I don't think there is any problem with everyone doing it their own way.

I did not replace it on purpose, in order to have the translation properly mirroring the original thread. Furthermore, LB wrote inside his topic that,
I already taught about this, during the debate about using our own keys. In the images posted by @Learn Bitcoin, it's clear he used his own keys. So, it's important to follow the translated version and use the ops keys instead of changing them to ours. Even though it won't impact readers negatively, it's a translated thread, and we should maintain the same details as the op( except for some certain translation where we are requested to use our own words)

Additionally, using our keys would mean creating our own image versions of the thread, which could be a lot of work for some members. It's great to see that @GazetaBitcoin has already finished his translation so quickly. I'll start working on the pidgin soon and should be done by next week.

Great job, dear GB.

Thank you, DS!

I tried to import your PGP key, but it seems like it's the same as LB's, meaning you didn't replace LB's keys with your own.

I did not replace it on purpose, in order to have the translation properly mirroring the original thread. Furthermore, LB wrote inside his topic that,

In my case, this is my Mobile Public key, which I generated a minute ago [...]

In my case, I am going to copy my other test key.

So bearing in mind that LB talked about his keys, also having in mind the translation should mirror the original, I kept all as it was. I could not add my key while LB wrote it's his key Smiley

It's because GB only did the translation. Trying the app and publishing your own PGP keys is unnecessary. If someone does, it's good. But, it's not mandatory.

Yes, this is correct.

I will post the link to Bangla translation as well.

Thank you, LB! Smiley

Thank you! Smiley

but i noticed error in your translation, you are mistaken author to be 1miau instead of Learn Bitcoin, that's what i consider as error, sorry if am wrong.

Loool! Thank you for that as well! Of course it was an error Smiley I copy-pasted the header from a translation I made for 1miau and I forgot to add the correct author. But I corrected the error and I appreciate a lot your mention.

Besides, as Porf recommended, please suggest one topic at a time though, not all 3 Smiley (We may think about the other 2 ones after finishing one of the 3 topics.)

While waiting for DS to suggest on of the two topics.......

You should start with this topic first. It's the easiest and shortest topic on PGP (Android).

Note: As for the PGP keys inside the post, I'm not sure if it should be replaced with the respective translators PGP keys (if have one). Because the main author might not be there to reply in different local boards or help users or encrypt or decrypt messages using PGP.

-DS 🧛‍♂️

Out of the proposed topics about PGP, I agree that this is the most useful for many people (roughly 3/4 smartphone users are Android users) and the easiest way to learn fast how to encrypt/decrypt messages.

I also like the idea of replacing the code in the OP with our own PGP code.

As other members also chose this topic, let's add it to the list of translations in progress Smiley

While waiting for DS to suggest on of the two topics, I thought to make another suggestion myself, since the existing two topics are supposed to be finished soon (both have translations in progress, which will led to have 10 translations for each of them). If that will happen, we will remain only with the topic proposed by DS.

Since I consider this a very important project for the benefit of users as a whole, I translated this topic myself.

I would like to hear AOBTers opinion about this proposal.

It seems that some of the tables of contents links in your translation thread posted on the Ukrainian board are not working*
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.63892660.

Meanwhile, it works for those posted in the Archival section (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/oieiic-a-aoiic-bitcoin-5490637).

* I assume that because the post is on a different page, the iurl code doesn't work correctly.
....

Hi Husna QA !
Yes, it seems that iurl is valid within the information blocks on the same page....

Thanks for the recommendations - I will make the changes today!

Found a sick thread, and I think what @Tyke created, we should be able to share with the world without any language barriers. Isn't there any concern or plan at AOBT to help him?

I am aware of the project, although there is a longer thread if I'm not wrong. I think it id a good idea to increase the awareness in the local boards, let's see what other members think.

Translation of the topic "Recovering hacked/lost accounts" by theymos has been in the Russian section for a long time and is fixed on the main page of the section Boccтaнoвлeниe дocтyпa к yчётнoй зaпиcи 2018
I can write to the author of an older article, but there is a nuance: Last Active: January 30, 2020, 01:09:53 PM
The person is not present on the forum for a very long time. Is there any sense to write such a request ?

Given the new information provided by DrBeer, I believe that best approach in this case would be that Xal0lex should remove the old sticky thread and replace it with DrBeerr's translation. I can not understand the language but, from what I see, DrBeer's is (1) up to date, while the other one is not, (2) mirroring the original thread better, compared with the old translation and (3) DrBeer can be reached for any future updates needed, while the author of the old translation is gone from the forum.

It's not up to me to make such decision but this is how I would proceed if the decision would be in my hands... I hope this helps.

"Recovering hacked/lost accounts" by theymos in Indonesia translation is ready

Great job dansus021! Now this thread has already 12 translations, which is... wow! It's most translated thread since AOBT's birth, having 12 translations, together with TalkImg and LocalMonero threads  Smiley
