I heard on the news awhile ago that there is a news about killing of the franchise owners of the online cockfighting, I am not sure about what I heard but do you think that those franchise owners are taking down because they are somewhat connected to the incident before? what could be the other reasons since I think they lose business because the PH temporarily bans the E-Sabong.

The fact that these operators of E-Sabong been have some deep connections are already given as they are continually operating on a daily basis in other platform even though there's a ban implemented. They knew the risk but they not afraid because they are paying high officials in any sort of department to give them protection and feed them information, the money for protection is not that big compared to the money they are getting from the bettors in a daily basis.

I think with the current status of the Government's strict compliance regarding e-sabong, no high officials will put their names at risk to protect some illegal operators. In other words, "lie-low".

There should be the right timing for these corrupt officials to do their illegitimate operations. That's how dirty politics works and not just they will just execute something without good timing. And now that there's a new administration coming that is also vocal on keeping the ban on "e-sabong", it's adding more risk for these officials' names to protect illegal operators.

I'm sure there are not many cases today of illegal operators being protected by some officials but instead, they are working on themselves to operate. There's even recent news that police hunt down an online sabong operation and one of the people who attempted to flee injured himself lol.

We cannot know for sure, I mean they won't be literally standing to protect these operations and put their name/position in vain but they are just feeding some information. This types of activities became much more of a crime already as they were affecting so many lives because of this platform.

Though they are not the ones to blame because they are not forcing anyone to play, it's the people who chose to gamble voluntarily.

These regulations are nothing but another one of those #wtfIsThisAJokeMoments , just because its banned online doesnt mean cockfights will cease to operate.

It's a big help. If you are from the PH, you will see everywhere that everyone is gambling in e-sabong. But since worst cases were reported as mentioned by OP, it ended up being suspended. Until now, no progress or status about those missing persons that got "kidnapped" related to e-sabong.

Obviously, legal cockfight operations are continuous here. The one that halted and suspended is the online version of it. The usual and normal operation of legal cockfighting operations here won't be banned as it's already been here for a long time. Of course, illegal operators who will operate e-sabong will be hunted down.

Do you think that the reason why it's stopped is because of the unsolved kidnapping case?

If that is the reason, then I think the reason is not too deep that would affect the overall interest of the people, I mean if it does not destroy life, then it should not be banned, but I suspect that the government are seeing it as one of the reasons they poor struggles more financially.

Though there are no proven information about that, we all knew that it do exist those protectors are wide and they can feed every possible raid that the government may attempt, the money that surrounds this business are huge enough to bring those operators to continue this business, they can spend money to allure greed government officials and those who are in PNP, high rankings police officials that can monitor the actions that might be done against them.

That's right, there have been illegal online websites that have been caught and instead of digital cash, they're now using cryptocurrencies. And talking about the physical ones.
It's not covered by this ban, there can still a continuous operation for the physical ones and the actual effect of it to the bettors and ones involved are also the same as the online bettors.

This kind of game only makes the rich(operator) richer, while the poor (gamblers) poorer.

Nothing to oppose but the reality that we will continue to see while this kind of business continues to operate, even the online ban has been implemented, the operation from the actual cockfight still kicking. Many of those who got addicted will find ways to bet and try some luck if they will win or they will continue to lose their money.

Making those operators to continue collecting more money from people who love to use this venue for their gambling satisfactions..

In reality, there's a coliseum for these types of activities where they have the blessing of the government and permit to carry on, and there is no denying that there's also a problem on that but the government doesn't want to be too much involved as it's a tradition in the Philippines. Although these addicts will continue to gamble on the said venues if they wanted to but their movement is limited because they can't gamble on the same activity everyday because these coliseums are only open once or twice a week.

That is probably much better than the online Sabong which can be played anywhere 24/7 if the gambler want it.

In the sense of limitation yes, but we don't know how deep the connections of those who are willing to facilitate even the ban was already been implemented, the gamblers who got addicted to this gambling will continue to find ways and illegal operators who are well-aware of those kinds of people will take advantage and will continue to ear huge amount of money even the risk is too high.

We know that even if cockfighting is made illegal there are going to be people that are going to want to take advantage of the situation and they will still organize those fights, but at least by making them illegal you will decrease the amount of animals becoming victims of that activity, and in the case you can find those that are organizing those events then you can put them in jail, so while it is clear that cockfighting will keep existing the number of those events will go down.
They will continue to play cockfighting if they have played often and the government will find it difficult to ban it because the organizer or people who gamble will hide the place.
But hopefully, the number of the events can go down so that gradually, there will be no more victims, either from animals or people who can become addicted.
But the use of crypto in online cockfighting can make crypto popular among gamblers because they can gamble without using their bank account.

I just found out yesterday from a friend that online esabong still exists with some illegal online platform. We can actually gamble if we like, but we should bear in mind that it's illegal and what we are doing is against the law, if we get scammed, we cannot complain to the authority as including us will be charge.
I dont know it is safe to gamble this way. Everything illegal brings in trouble. One gets into it thinking everything will go as they think - but trouble comes uninvited. I would not do anything illegal to keep myself safe from trouble.

Of course, it isn't safe to gamble on that certain online platform, it's already an illegal activity so we must keep away from it. Remember, the president himself appointed the NBI to track and crack these operators because the administration also knew that there were still some operations from persistent operators, so gambling on the platform is dangerous and we're just inviting trouble in that way. Worse is that we will be caught and be a sample to the public.

I believe it will return, all the elements are here.

- Government needs funding
- there are lobbyists, these lobbyists include big-time gamblers who use to make billions of pesos
- if held underground there will be corruption, operators are willing to pay corrupt officials
- there is a huge market and demand
- Everything is in place there are bookies and online sites, and they all need a go signal.

The upcoming administration makes it clear that e-sabong won't return.

1. Government needs funding but it's not that e-sabong is only the best alternative. It won't be suspended if that plays a big role. In other words, the revenue here can be covered.

2. Big-time gamblers here covered most gambling types. Even though there's no e-sabong, there are lots of online gambling alternatives here on which they can switch.

3. Yes those behind the table are possible but sorry that's not worth it since only a few will use the platform. The e-sabong becomes trendy here because it is legitimate and access is done thru a legit application like Gcash. How can these illegal operators earn if only a few people will use them?

4. Read no. 1.

5. Bookies and online sites are present here. It's just that e-sabong is removed. There are others games to covered.

Cockfighting isn't totally banned but only to those online bets which particularly in mattering about tax evasion with these operators I presumpt.

No, it's not the tax evasion, the online cockfighting operators are more than willing to pay taxes and surcharges the government wants to charge them in fact they like the government to impose more taxes on them because it will make them legal and accepted and recognized by the government, this e-sabong could have been operating until now and for many more months or years if only for those missing people that witnesses are associating to e-sabong, the society cannot tolerate people going missing or getting killed.

Is that platform operating from Philippines where the online cockfighting is banned ?

If so, better ask him to report it so the authorities may take action to take it down. I hope people show some responsibility and avoid such platforms only to make some money.
There are people who are really in concern when it comes to these things where they do sent out some reports whenever they do see platforms or sites offering online betting despite of the ban and some won't really be tending to do so just because they are one of the bettors which it's understandable that they would really be making out bets and just let them be.

We know gambling operators like E-sabong they will take every opportunity to run their operations even the underground, they know there is demand, they know there is a market, and they know they can make a lot of money from continuing operating their e-sabong, there is competition among operators and they will continue operating if there are other e-sabong operating.

Because of the continuous operation in the underground, there's corruption from authorities and these operators will pay people to protect them, what is grease or protection money if they will rake a lot of profit.

Most likely that's what they are doing as it's easy to detect an illegal gambling site, but with protection, these operators will have the confidence to still continue running their business, they are just an online Ponzi scheme that is when discovered by authorities, they will just change into a different domain and recruit people to play for them.

Things will be more tricky for the new government if how will they keep these things from growing. Finding these operators will be like a hide-n-seek avenue because these operators are willing to take some extra measures so that they can still operate even though there's a ban implemented. They are also not afraid because those who have power or authority are on their payroll, if there will be news, these operators will be given some early tip-off so that they will be safe.

I just watched on the local news that there is a possibility that e-sabong will be back in the mainstream, it will be strictly regulated, and the new government has a huge budget deficit and the President stated that he is not going to sell state properties to get more funds and will look for revenues elsewhere and e-sabong was recommended to be relaunch, the government has seen money generated from e-sabong and they still want the revenues coming from e-sabong instead of corrupt officials benefiting from grease money.

If that's true, please do attach some source because I'm also curious about that matter. As far as I know, the newly elected president has been so vocal that he won't let the E-Sabong to resume their operations again because of the same reason of the outgoing president, the revenues that E-sabong is generating are good but the effect is just too much.
Also, the new government have said that they won't sell state properties to get more funds because there are taking some steps to gain other type of revenue where there's no need on selling these properties.

But they shouldn't use it because it's illegal and to stay out of trouble.
They can still look for other types of gambling if online esabong is illegal because gambling is not only about cockfighting but also many gambling games.
If, in their country, gambling is illegal, they are better off avoiding it.
