The title race is still very much open for the top 4 teams and certainly not limited to Chelsea and Liverpool,  but I must say Liverpool have shown more desire to win games that's why they keep coming with results in their favour week in week out... do Arsenal pose to be serious title contenders? I don't think so, it's the same old story of good start but poor finishing..but we shall see how they perform in the next 2 months...

Btw should we put Nottingham Forest as a potential outsider to win it  Tongue

Liverpool is about to make the biggest mistake they could ever make by letting their players go, and not offering them whatever they want. I mean when the team is going this great, paying a few million more is nothing, they could win the whole premier league, that's more money then they could imagine, having something like this is more important than any contract negotiations.

I mean we are going into that famous "last six months" period, which would mean that these players could literally sign with other teams at that point, so they need to have a deal before that day comes. There is no reason to believe that players who signed for another team would give their %100 on this club, so they need to do their very best to convince them to stay.
I don't know why Liverpool are not even trying to give some of their players contract extension, it seems that they do not acknowledge that their recent success across Europe and in their domestic league is because of the efforts of players like Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah. It shouldn't be so difficult for them to give a contract extension and a possibility of slight increment in the wages as this will automatically boost them and make them commit their best to the club.

Knowing some early rumors about Madrid being interested in Virgil, the hot air had been cleared and nothing seems to connect the player with the club.

For details, Virgil is already a club legend there in Liverpool and I believe the club has benefited more from him than what he has entirely gotten from them. The class play from this player at his early age of career would have landed him in a more successful club possibility of same Madrid which he must have won more trophies by now. If the club refuses to replace his contract, I think that might be the end of him in the Premier League including Salah.

Arsenal beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium today. Havertz saved Arsenal at the Emirates with a goal that was a bit early in the first half. Havertz is Arsenal's top scorer in all competitions this season. He was everywhere in today's match, Havertz worked hard, did his job and scored his goal.

Havertz showed today that he can win a match for Arsenal without Saka, on the one hand, he may be getting a bit too much criticism considering what Havertz did. I think he deserves more.

Arsenal has directly secure their 4 points against Ipswich Town and and move up to the 2nd place in the table by Havertz goal which is a smart move for Arsenal, there points gap with Liverpool is just 6 points and with the way make their performances so strong now; I’m having confidence in Arsenal that they will soon over take Liverpool from top of the standings, because they will know want  anything that can make them drop single points for now: they’ve to maintain their points and keep their consistency to be more strong against their next opponents.

My biggest disappointment this week in the Premier League was when Manchester City drew at home against Everton. Pep Guardiola is at his wits' end to make his team win 3 points in many consecutive matches and these tough times they have not been able to improve even against weaker teams.

After winning 3-0 over Nottingham Forest, Manchester City have gone 5 matches in a row without winning. Manchester City only won 2 points from their last 4 matches in the Premier League, while they lost the match against Juventus in the Champions League. I honestly have to say that Manchester City seems to have unresolved internal problems rather than just losing some important players, I mean about some problems that are not exposed to the media, while the players know about it.
Indeed, Man City's problem is seen from its squad which is not like before, Man City selling Alvarez was also a fatal mistake, Kevin De Bruyne and Gundogan's glory days are also over. However, logically Man City is trained by an experienced coach, it seems he can overcome this problem well at least even though it is not optimal but not as bad as what is happening now with consecutive defeats.

So I agree with you. With what is happening with Man City's current performance, we should suspect that Man City seems to be experiencing internal problems that have not been exposed to the media. A team as big as Man City who has a complete squad and has a fairly experienced coach is very difficult to understand seeing Man City's performance getting worse, even against teams they usually slaughter, they even draw and lose.

If you look back you might realize that after Rodri got the Ballon d'Or, Man City's performance actually got worse. Maybe this is one of the factors as well as karma because Rodri managed to win the Ballon d'Or which is full of politics and money. In addition, Rodri also makes his teammates jealous, such as Erling Haaland, because Haaland also deserves the award because he has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or for three consecutive years. Maybe this is what makes the Man City squad no longer compact and solid when competing. IMO

Arsenal game is close the the end.
they are winning for 1-0 at 2 minutes at the end.
These points will be a massive gain over chelase if they can win.
They will be at 6 points from Liverpool but 1 more game played so a potential of -9

In the match between Chelsea and Fulham, when they showed their ability by scoring a goal in the 16th minute which made Chelsea take the lead over Fulham, I think Chelsea will come out as the winner in this match, but it is very unfortunate that they could not increase their lead so they did not anticipate the comeback made by Fulham.

I got the sign of Chelsea possible losing this period from when they played with Everton because whenever Chelsea started missing chances that way no that something is coming, Nicolas Jackson who was there finisher performed exactly opposite with face to face with goalkeeper without much interception by by defenders. So actually instead of Fulham to win them Everton should have given the honor because they had much stand than them, however I think the match would have even been a draw if Chelsea had not scored the time they did because it slows them down a lot and even with the equalizer they were not too gingered up.

Even if Liverpool try to make mistake just the way they've been doing in previous seasons, Man City this time around are not informed to always take up that opportunity if Liverpool mess up and Arsenal who we all took will pick up the fight from where Manchester City dropped it haven't been living up to expectations. so winning the premier League title this season is almost looking like a free ride for Liverpool. Given the reality on ground Manchester City would only get it's acts together come next season because really looking like all hope is Lost for this season, so try and pardon us if we criticize Manchester City the reason is that, they are the defending champions, so we needed more from them.
You speak as if Arsenal did not top Liverpool in the end of last season, losing the league with just two points to Manchester City while also being behind Liverpool at the table by this time last year.

Although, I won't rule the fact that Liverpool can win the league this season especially now that Manchester City are really far from their best but still got competitors like Arsenal and maybe others, I won't want to see them as the favorite now after how  things played last season in the end.

These Manchester Clubs are currently behaving like twins, one loses their game earlier and the red one follows suit and let's not talk about the Fernandez red cars because as captain on a yellow cars he should have known better... from now on I will be picking this pair to lose or draw because that's what they do best!!

As things stand, Manchester United  chasing the game with a goal down against Wolves and Utd being the traveling team this is another "L" for the team.
Yes, you are right. Manchester United’s recent encounter with Wolves was disappointing. They were battered by the lowest team in the Premier League, showcased the lack of cutting edge in the final third. The match exposed Bruno Fernandez flaws, his two minutes of madness costed Manchester United the match. Manchester United’s performance in that game has made so many supporters to start questioning the mentality of the players if they can be able to play and perform under pressure.

Chelsea tripped on Fulham and didn't even earn a point at home, which would likely cause them to drop to the 3rd place and be overtaken by Arsenal, if the Gunners win against the 19th Ipswich tonight at home, which is very likely.

But has anyone seriously expected that halfway through the season we would see Nottm Forest in third place? They are performing surprisingly well even though their performance is not at the top level i.e. they often get beating from the top clubs (e.g. even Man City in deep crisis beat them 3-0) but they are consistent in scoring 3 points when playing against weaker clubs. Yesterday's victory over Tottenham was their 4th consecutive win in the league.

Another bad game by Man United, they've lost to 17th Wolverhampton (2-0). The red card for Fernandes played a part here, but that's not much of an excuse. They are now getting closer to the relegation zone, being (8th points away from the 18th place) and they have difficult games ahead, against Newcastle and then Liverpool.

In the match between Chelsea and Fulham, when they showed their ability by scoring a goal in the 16th minute which made Chelsea take the lead over Fulham, I think Chelsea will come out as the winner in this match, but it is very unfortunate that they could not increase their lead so they did not anticipate the comeback made by Fulham.

and as for the match between Arsenal and Ipswich, currently the match is almost touching the end of the first half, and Arsenal is only one goal ahead of Ipswich. The match is still long and Arsenal must increase their lead again, because one goal is not enough to secure three points in this match, because I am worried that if Arsenal does not increase their lead, Ipswich will be able to score an equalizer that I can make the match end in a draw. Yes, even though Ipswich is a weak team.

and regarding Man United, I have not said any further, the team is really down.

After the win of yesterday evening Premier leauge after many years sounds close before Xmas.
Liverpool has 7 points of advantage versus the second team, Chealsea

Nobody was expecting them in second position but if Sloth manage to win the missing game it will be at +10.

I think it may never happened that a team lost 10 points of advantage in a single year from the 1st position.

Poor Chelsea,  they failed to use the chance they had, maybe the fight would be between Arsenal and Liverpool and not Chelsea. Maybe the officials in the premier league have been rash to arsenal especially when it gets to bookings as they weren't booked the right ways IMO.
The game left to be played would be a derby game against Everton and I expect a crunch tie whenever they face them. Sewn Dyche will definitely be ready for that game. I would rather Arsenal or Chelsea winning the Premier league competition to Liverpool. Arsenal deserves it.

I agree that Liverpool is at a point where unless they start playing like City, they are just winners, it's over already. I know that it doesn2t look that easy to decide just yet, but it's true that they are just too far away now.

Chelsea could have gone with Liverpool and try their best, but lost very crucial points when Liverpool won, which resulted with too much gap to close now. I am not saying it's impossible, I know that it's going to end up being a little different, I know things won't be easy, but at the end of the day we are not going to end up with anything shocking, I do not think so. Chelsea doesn't look like a team that could close this gap, and Arsenal is too far away as well, Liverpool basically guaranteed their title at this point.

Nottingham Forest has just managed to achieve their 4th consecutive win in the Premier League, the victory over Tottenham has made Nottingham now in the Champions League Zone. Nottingham have been a real shock this season, their brilliance has left the big teams in the lurch. Liverpool lost at Anfield, Man United lost at Old Trafford, Defeated Aston Villa and Tottenham have just become their victims.

This season, Nottingham has become a threat to the big clubs who have always managed to appear in the UCL.

Yes, Nottingham has a very impressive result this season, its third season for Nottingham playing in the Premier League, after the previous two seasons Nottingham was only able to struggle and  only finished in the lower zone of the standings. But who would have thought that this season Nottingham managed to beat the elite teams of the Premier League and also, the position in the top four seems to be solid until the end of the season. Considering Manchester City who are no longer good this season, so one place  in the top four will really be filled by Nottingham.

Although indeed, at least there is still a chance for Nottingham to be able to get out of the top four, because their gap points is not that far from the teams outside the top four. So, if Nottingham fails to remain consistent in the second half of the season, then it is likely that Nottingham will drop out of the top four. But yes,  if I consider Nottingham's impressive results throughout the first half of this season, then of course it  is appropriate for Nottingham to finish in the top four at the end of this season.

Nottingham Forest have been one of the dark horses in the English Premier League this season. I don't think there's anyone who would've predicted that the Garibaldis would be in the third place on boxing day but because of their extraordinary performances this season, that's actually the reality now.
Nuno Espirito Santo is doing exceptional job as the club manager and if they succeed to finish the season in the the top four, I think he'll be contesting for the league's best manager of the season.

How things are going Liverpool will win the title a couple of rounds earlier. I dont see anyone coming close to them and the gap will just be wider between them and the rest of the league. They won against Leicester easily just in second gear. After the third goal they didnt even want to attack and Leicester didnt even touch the ball later on
While the teams closest to Liverpool are losing, Liverpool continues to lead and win completely and there is no team bothering them. Manchester City has not been able to win a match for many weeks, how will they fix it, Pep Guardiola cannot find a solution, this year is almost over, although it is too early to say for City, there are many losses.

Chelsea were also getting close, they won a point last week and lost today. In other words, there is no team left that is really close to Liverpool.
The way Manchester City have started this season, people will stop talking about Manchester City after a few days. Now Liverpool's good performance is in our eyes, so in the Premier League, most of the discussions are about Liverpool and criticism is more about Manchester City. Liverpool have continued their early season performance so far so this team can be trusted for now. Liverpool have not been Premier League champions for a long time so this season is a golden opportunity for them to become champions as Manchester City are not in form this season.
Hopefully Liverpool won't drop points in the Premier League at least because of their mistakes and they will continue this performance until the end of the season.
[/quote]
I am not sure if people will ever stop talking about City, plus their entire 115 charges thingy is still out there, to be fair they do not really have that much, anyone who followed it closely would know that the reasons why they may drop to championship would be mainly about two things, but in the end, that's still a thing. So while they are already doing badly for the past 13 games, we could consider them getting even worse, not just lose more games which is possible, but also because we are talking about a potential for them to drop as well. So when you think about all of that, it is still a big talking point.

We have never seen a team win this league for four years in a row before as far as I know, and now we are seeing that same team, have one win in 13 games on the fifth season, that is weird and it's definitely newsworthy and even if they end up losing more or win more, they are going to end up getting a lot more talking for sure, it is something that interests people.

The victory over leicester city makes their position more comfortable at the top of the English league standings even they also still have one postponed match which could be an AS card to win the premier league this season, in my opinion, Liverpool have a great opportunity to maintain their lead,  if they are still able to show consistent performance in the second half of this season, especially in crucial matches such as boxing day in the near time, But apart from these advantages, of course Liverpool cannot underestimate their opponents because however all possibilities can still happen in football, even they should remember the failure in the 2018/19 last season, where Liverpool were 9 points ahead of Manchester City, but because of their poor performance when entering the second half season made Manchester City finally become champions at the end season.

Liverpool got scared and they were losing.
Shortly after they managed to score 2 goals and now they are winning.

This win if happens with another potential 3 point from the missing game will be critical.

They are right now at a potential +10 from the second in the leaderboard after 18 games, crazy.
Liverpool definitely will get a win again this week and give a bigger gap with the team in second and also having a game at hand.

To be honest I still think they may fall off just like last season after dominating for so long. I will actually see them as the title favourite if they can hold up on their lead till to at least February ending.

Definitely establishing a 10 points difference between them and other clubs will set Liverpool up for the title in Slots first season and it will be historical to bottle this at this stage, but it is not impossible for a team to lose 4 matches in the next 20, we have seen this before, Arsenal actually had more points difference last two seasons and the lost the league. Liverpool also had similar difference with just five to six games to go then and they lost the league too so it is possible.

The only difference I see now is Liverpool not having a genuine contender this year, before it was a scary thing to have Manchester city on your tail but right now Chelsea who are second aren’t ripe yet for the league title and Arsenal are not just it this season, so could a free ride for Liverpool especially if Sallah form stays like this
