In the UCL phase group match for me, there will be a surprise later because who would have thought that what we thought would be knocked out might qualify because in the last play-off it would be decisive for those who lacked points in the runner-up.

I don't know who will qualify but for me this is very interesting considering how tight the UCL is this season.

It's a very heavy burden for me, Barcelona has to fight Munich, who have not lost in the UCL so far, if Xavi manages to beat him then it can be said that Barcelona is on a good track.

Bayern would be Xavi's toughest test and I frankly think that he's being exposed to this kinda challenges quite early in his journey as a Barcelona manager. I also don't think the current Barcelona team has the attacking prowess or squad quality to take Bayern head on. I mean, when greizman, Suarez and Messi were still around, they lost terribly.

I'm looking forward to the game. Let's see if Xavi can put Barcelona back in Europe radar.

Which thread to discuss the ongoing Balon d'or

Is there any other dedicated thread to discuss Balloon d'or? Or no, I think here fits to discuss it.
Robert Lewandoski is awarded the best striker of the year. A title that sounds new to me. Was this created to rub him the Balloon d'or twice?
I think they rubbed him of it last year, because of Covid-19. Then what happens this year. Let's see what happens at the end of tonight's event.
The top three favourites to win are Messi, Lewandoski and Benzema

PSG did make their forward really strong but there will always be a hole in both midfield and defense with this lineup. Because all three of them, Messi, Neymar, and mbappe are real attacking players and they will always try to make interesting plays. But their defense has to back them up to point and if they face any counter-attacks. But that doesn't seem to be the case right now.
When I looked at the odd that was given to Manchester city,I had no option but to give them a straight win,and if you watch the game critically, you'll see that Mancity is unstoppable in this Champions league. If they can win PSG,they will go on to win anything that comes their way.
I said it from the start, that Manchester city are my most favourite team to win this Champions league, followed by Bayern Munich, before Liverpool  and Chelsea.
Manchester City are always favourite to win the championship every season untill they reach the quarter finals then guadiola will start his experimental and lose a game he is supposed to win,but I still rate them though in winning the champions League,I see Liverpool as contenders as long as they keep mo Salah fit,for me right now Bayern Munich is the favourite.

There is a new hope for Milan now to advance to the 1/8 finals. Because they got a really tough win against Atletico Madrid in Spain by a late goal. And now, they are only one point behind the team at the second position which are Porto. Of course, Atletico Madrid have a chance too as they have the same points with Milan even though they have one less goal advantage than Milan. And I don't think that Porto will be able to continue in the CL. It feels like Atletico Madrid will draw with Porto and Milan will draw with Liverpool in the worst case. But Milan will have to win to continue in that case. Let's see which team will make it!
But last match Liverpool become terrible for Milan to get three points, not easy defeat Liverpool have perfect result on all champion league match, success win on five match before make Liverpool become the only one team success get all point on stage group. Maybe Liverpool will play with not all important player but they can make Milan failed to pass 1/8 finals stage.

Barcelona got a panic attack whenever they hear Bavaria or Bayern. They have a sad history with it. I find the next match interesting since Xavi has to prove that his team is recovering while trying to keep the second place for his team. Odds are way better for Bayern @1.68 vs @4.5 for Barcelona. I think also that Bayern will not allow Barca to dominate them home.

That match was heavily dominated by Man city in their usual fashion and I was also expecting PSG to match city's attacking prowess but it wasn't much and city being the best team, won. Although they won't meet again for group stage games, I would be really love to see them meet again but towards the end of the competition ^Semi final or finaks of two big and dominant teams yet to win their UCL title.
Man City victory over WestHam made them move up to 2nd place temporarily, displacing Liverpool's position. With a thin position and still competing with each other to catch up with Chelsea who are undefeated until the end of the season. There is still a chance for City to add points as soon as their opponent is Aston Villa and who can be used to add points again.
Rating Aston villa so low, guess you haven't watched how good they played recently.
They can sure be a disturbance to man city's run for the league title.
Man City also display there giid form in game's like this.

You know, Manchester City is currently in the second position with 29 points, and Chelsea is in the first with 30 points. on the other hand, Liverpool is in third with 28 points. So actually there will be a really huge fight going on the king of these three teams for points in my opinion. And if I am right, this fight will go on until the end of the season.

Barcelona's qualification is depend on the outcome of the game between Benfica and Dynomo Kiev; if Dynomo Kiev holds Benfica to a draw or a win, Barcelona will automatically qualify, even if they lose against Bayern Munich. They have a good chance of qualifying.

In the Champions League, I've learnt not to underestimate underdogs; the underdogs always rise to the top of the standings.
It is certain that Benfica will win with Dynamo Kiev of course Benfica will not let it go I just looked at the previous statistics and always distinguish if the difference is far then my assumption is that Dynamo Kiev will not win, although I also do not underestimate the underdog team.
The efforts of Barcelona and Benfica will both fight to win but for me still only take my conclusion about this prediction barca 30% of bayern wins.

When this season champions League start one can assume that PSG will win the championship because of the front three Neymar, Messi and Mbappe they are the best in their positions but in what we are seeing they are not good in tracking back to help their defence, they leave alot of space behind them and that makes them weaker.now I think they are 4 favourites, the English sides Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea and the German champions Bayern Munich they are the four front runners

I would say when you are so much dominating in offense, your defense gets a bit leaky at times. That is true for every team and that is why most lower level teams focus on counter attack tactics. Simply because when a team is dominating on offense, their defensive line gets a bit ahead, and when you can stop them, do a great pass forward, then you are suddenly faced with a lot of defenders on their back heel.
This is why it looked like their defense was bad, not because their defense was actually bad but because they were dominating on offense. If this game was a bit more closer together then game would be in the middle and defense would stay in defense while offense would have been a little less.
In general, I agree with you, but I think that this does not apply to this match (when a team is constantly in attack, its defensive lines rise high and when the ball passes to the opponent, quick counterattacks easily pass the defensive lines). City looked bad at times, not because of strategy, but because of individual careless actions. They were just lucky that the opponent was unable to realize these mistakes.

Well, it is simply understandable if the defence line just advances a little because the team is on the attack. But any team should be careful while attacking and not push their defensive line further up, especially if the opponent plays counterattack really well. If the opponent does not realize that or cannot play counterattack really well, then there is no problem but if the opponent can identify the mistakes then surely it's a problem and I think that is what happened.

The Manchester City vs PSG game was important in terms of taking the lead or guaranteeing it. If Manchester City won, they were going to guarantee promoting being the leader of their group. And they succeeded. I watched the most of the game and Manchester City were really highly dominant against PSG. But it was totally normal to me as City are nearly always like this in their home games. Even if PSG scored the first goal, City still turned the game around and won by 2-1. Congrats to them as they achieved their goal for the group stage.

City won, but I must admit that in this match its defense was disgusting. If PSG were a little more successful in attack, they could at least draw and maybe even win. In fact, both teams did not play in the best way, perhaps this can be explained by the fact that the tournament value was not so important.

It is really worrying to see Dortmund going down to the Europa League. Their situation was decided even before the last game which is really terrible for them. Normally, they should have left Sporting behind easily. But their having many missing players affected them in a quite bad way. Erling Haaland couldn't play in the game Sporting defeated them by 3-1 too and this was also bad for Dortmund. If they weren't this much absent, maybe they would have performed much better. This could also be a factor for Haaland to decide his future too by the way.
You are making it look as if Dortmund will be missed or they are one big club that are suppose to win this season champions League, the likes of Dortmund are suppose to be in the Europa League they don't have lot of stars that the champions League crave for only Harland,if is PSG or mancity or even juventus going out then is supposed to be a discussion not Dortmund.

Dortmund are not the favorites to win the Champions League. Their squad is good enough to win the Europa League title. But my idea was that Dortmund could make it to the second round, because the other teams in their group are not very strong. I thought Ajax from Group C and Dortmund would advance to the next round. If Haaland could have performed in all the matches, maybe Dortmund could have gone to the next round.

Yes exactly what I think because the opponent that Dortmund had in their group was not so strong. At least not strong enough by Dortmund's standard. I also thought that they will surely qualify along with ajax. But as Haaland couldn't play all the matches, Dortmund really felt like they are missing their real striker.

Dortmund's start was very good in Champions League, and they won two games even these were not something special but still their start was good but suddenly two games against Ajax and some injuries ruined their all campaign now they have to drop in UEFA Europa League hopefully they will do some better in this as well for having some good for their next season.

In few other interesting matches we have very good matches waiting are between AC Milan vs Liverpool, FC Porto vs Atletico Madrid, because three teams fighting for one spot which is very interesting we can't predict about the result.

For Barcelona, I am feeling they are also dropping to UEFA Europa Cup, but we have to wait for official statement on last match day.

In the group, I was almost certain that Dortmund is going to qualify for the next round because they were facing not so strong opponents in my opinion. Even though they started really well, they had some bad matches and that shows in the group standings, they are currently in the third position.
About Barcelona, I am not sure and waiting for the official statement.
