I know, that's the beast I was referencing. I'd take a closer look. Bitmain is pulling out all the stops. This is Scorched earth marketing. They are trying to crush the competition. Typical of Bitmain, but they are completely abandoning any reason. I'll bet you a shiny Nickel that the S17 Pro 50 TH unit by the time it arrives in December, is a 24 month ROI.

Well I paid 2443 in PayPal yesterday I held coins and coins are now 8575. Up from 8100

So the paypal option made me 5% profit. Using cash and not btc.

The PayPal six months zero interest is big.

I am bullish on btc price. So I have no problem buying s17 gear on six month zero interest.

A small move in coin from 8100 to 11000 from now until April along with mining earnings for six months I make roi.

I would need to hold 2443 in coins at price of 8100

That would be about 0.3016 coins held till April a move to 11000 would mean they are worth 3317

That would be 874 along with coins mined from now til April. They would be around 826.  But if coins do not rise to 11000 it will take a really long time to roi

Nah  50eh in s9's are going to drop out.  It won't be as bad as you think.

But look at this unit a 73th s17+

"Product Glance    Value
Version
Model No.
Crypto Algorithm/Coins    S17+
266-Aa
SHA256/BTC/BCH
Hashrate, TH/s    73.00
Reference power efficiency on wall @25°C, J/TH    40.00

Hardware Configuration
Miner Size (Length*Width*Height, w/o  package),mm(1-1)    298.0*175.0*304.0
Net weight, kg (1-2)     10.00

it claims to do 73th at 40 watts a th  this is about 2920 watts and is a real monster.

Bitmain just offered almost every model they make, for sale on a Dec 20-31 release on their page. They also just announced some S17 and T17 "s"'s. Probably shipping in November or December. There is a Tsunami coming. I wouldn't buy one piece of ASIC hardware from now until this ensuing bloodbath in December/January. Not even at HALF these prices. People are gonna get smoked. Diff is going parabolic.

At $8200 and 13.1T diff, break even for a 100W/TH S9 is 6.5 cents/kWh.

7.7 cents/kWh for a 85W/TH S9k.

Maybe all the old S9s already found new homes in sub 6 cent mining farms.

If we hit 120EH by the end of the year and prices stay in the $8200 range, Diff will be around 16.8T and the 100W/TH S9 break even goes to 5.1 cents/kWh.

Yes Phillipma, I am painfully aware of these challenges. I've spent the last 6 weeks doing these machinations in my farm. 50% converted but still a lot of work to do. Not only converting 14 PH over but expanding the operation to 20 PH at the same time. Loads of fun. Never pay others to do what you can do yourself...

Well not unexpected if you were thinking some retooling is going on.

If you have s9 farms and are refitting to m20s or s17e gear.  It is not simple.  New racks and reworking circuits take time.

A farm with  all s9's on 30amp pdu's could be 4 s9's per circuit say 4 x 1200 = 4800 watts and use 4 receptacle pdu's
If you went to s17 pro   it would be 2 s17 per circuit  say 2 x 2300 = 4600 watts  and use the same pdu's
You only need change shelf heights.  so you could be quick.

But switching to m20s  you  can't use the pdu's since they are 12-15 amp per socket and will pop breaker.

So if you had these pdu's

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hewlett-Packard-HP-EO4501-Power-Distribution-Modular-PDU-Control-Unit-228481-002/123861665014?

with 4 cables

https://www.ebay.com/itm/IEC-C20-to-C13-Power-Cord-2-ft-15A-250V-14-AWG-Iron-Box-IBX-4924-02M/121173687554?

s9 to s17 upgrade is really fast.

but if  you go to m20s
and you pull the pdu and the 4 cables and buy this

https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEMA-L6-30P-to-C19-Power-Cord-8-ft-20A-250V-12-AWG-Iron-Box-IBX-4943-08M/223394324234?

it is fast but uses only 3400-3500 watts of your l6-30r 30 amp circuit.

I would imagine  some would do the above  as 1 m20s does 68th on 3500 watts  vs 4 s9's do 52th on 4800 watts.

but  each circuit ends up being short 2300 watts.  So some may  do re wires  which puts some down time.  I would think the oct 1 to oct 7 chinese holidays were the time to do some re wires  and hash rate dropped off.  I saw multiple large s9 offerings this week.

Our mine is all l6-30p 30 amp receptacles.  So we have some low circuits

4
with
2 doing  m20s
1 doing   m21s
1 doing   inno t3 t50

but we have 36 circuits  and are not filled out.  we will continue to spot buy gear with decent prices offered.

I just got a good deal on a1041. due oct
I have some t17e's coming soon.  due nov
we have a s17 coming for dec

'The right to privacy matters'
There are the following units:

s17e
s17
s17pro

m20
m20s

The five above are far more efficient then any other gear. That does mean you should only get those units as there are more factors then  efficiency.

If I have 7 cent power I need an s17 pro today
If I have 2 cent power I can use a1041 a1047 a1066  as the cheap power works for me.

I have two a1041 beta models with the large psu. They do 67 watts a th.  Low speed is closer to 63 watts a Th.

It is a decent piece of gear on the low speed it is fairly quiet a home miner could use it.

I do not know how good the big 50 th model is.
I run my two at 31th speed.
I will run the third at 31th.

Buysolar is trying to get some of the big models for testing and demo’s.

Philipma, have you run Avalon before? They sure seem to pull a lot of power per TH. Is there anything particular about them you like that would help them survive Epoch Jumps and 1/2ings? The new ones are available for Nov at fairly decent prices.

I would buy that as long as host let me leave in six months. And if market rallied I would stay past the six months.  It have two deals for power that are better then your deal.

what I struggle to find is a good s17 pro deal.

We are still in neg diff which would be nice to see

No terms to the deal at all. Might be implied and maybe I'd get in a pretty good argument if I tried to bail on them right after delivery though. They are doing group buys at cost for their current customers. Would be great if prices weren't so far out of whack. I've met them in person and have had miners hosted there for a few years. I picked up some 1047s direct from Canaan the same way, just emailed that I'd take some and sent the $, just went online yesterday.  Probably not the wisest move, but my addiction forces me to keep a toe in the water... I don't have a lot of them so I can just sit and wait for BTC to rise.

I would not do the deal with the intention of bailing quickly on them though ... bad karma.

That is a decent deal offered how long must you host at 7.2 cents for him to honor the deal?

I was offered 2x 50th units 1 week shipping for 3330 but they are 60 watts a th.

My power deal is 50-50 coin split so I get 50th x 0.0000192 = 0.00096 a day clear so  200 x 0.00096 = 0.192 x 8200 = 1575  then the ½ ing

Since I am a 50-50 coin split  hash per th has more meaning then efficiency does.

I still would need a good uptick in price for the 100th at 3330 usd to work for me.

Still hanging in there in negative territory and nearly halfway to next diff update...

the 13k run up was odd I will say that. But it was a year in advance to the ½ ing.

I've heard opinions (conspiracy theories?) that the whole run-up was market manipulation caused by Tether printing $. A bit scary...

Bitmain didn't seem to have any problems selling out their Nov S17e batches at prices that seem way too high to me. So a bunch of people have high hopes. Maybe it was just because the quantity was limited though.

I was just offered a deal by my host yesterday, 56TH s17 pro shipping from Malasia in a week for $2913, no extra 25% tariff, hosting all in at about 7.2 cents/kWh. Running in turbo mode at 62TH at 2800W at this mornings BTC price, that's 20 months to cover the cost. Even if it was 5 cent power, still 15 months to ROI. To get close to ROI before the halving, price would need to spike up to all-time highs. I'm generally bullish on price, but that's way too risky for me.
