This is because telegram let scammers to misuse it with less efforts as there are many bugs are still to be fixed. One of those big bugs must be, letting scammers to add any telegram user into their group. This way scammers are easily adding 1000s of telegram users wherever they want to. This must be a privacy breach because people are getting added to any group without their permission. I'm not sure why telegram is still not blocking that feature.

As of now it is right to assume that telegram is associated with fraudsters because they are doing business in favor of scammers to exploit them. They also must limit the functionality of bots which are relevant to breaching individual's privacy.

We humans use different platforms or things for different purposes, while some will be for good others for fraud etc. Just like Facebook, Twitter, some people can use it for good things while some can use it to scam people, so scamming isn't limited to or associated with a particular platform. Now in the case of Telegram, telegram happens to be a good multi-functional and multi-purpose platform thus the reason why many projects are leveraging it for various services, because of this and the huge number of users, scammers see it as an opportunity to scam . So basically it is not a fault from Telegram rather it is just in human nature, therefore to be safe,.be mindful of personal messages from unrecognised people.

I like Telegram because it is so versatile for the crypto communitys. It is true that it has its flaws in relation to bots and scammers who are spaming. But it is pretty easy to identify them, we must be more cunning than they are to keep us safe.

in general, not only on telegrams but there are still many other channels that can fool you including other social media channels. related to telegram I think it depends on the user only, if the user uses it wisely then there will be no fraud and that is why many users misuse the telegram bot for fraud because it is easily accessed.

Predators always hunts prey, and they always want to go where they could feed a lot, and telegram is the best place to scam people, because there are too many people who are using telegram for bounties and cryptocurrency, especially airdrops that ask fees first before they send you the token, pretty skeptical isn't it? I'm not blaming the victims but sometimes, we feed them, I mean we already know its fishy and too good to be true but still be bite their baits, therefore they earned the courage to scam more people, and it can't be stop.

You can save yourself from the fraudsters and spams by simply enabling security features on telegram like changing who can message you, who can add you to other groups on privacy and security settings.

well this is a problem because from the beginning a lot of scammers who roam and can do an invite to their group by using a script or other so that you will enter without your knowledge and they start giving you offers to outwit you.

and most of the time, their victims are newbies, who are thinking that they will really get money out of it. but there is a feature in telegram that you can report scammers and tag them, so if you encounter any of them, just make sure to tag them so no one will be a victim of their illegal activities. but one thing that I encountered is, they will pose as a technical support of the exchange, they are closely following every crypto exchange and if they see someone asking for help about their account, they will pm you that they can resolve their issues. i almost got screwed but I sent a message to the official accounts and they said they are not in any way sending pm first to their clients. so everybody should do their due diligence before trusting anyone esp those that will pm you out of nowhere. most official reps will not send you a pm first. and they are clear about it.

Open your eyes and you will see the signs of taking the opportunity with beating the OP by other small scammers in the crypto world. Unfortunately, this is how things turn on crypto social media.

With Telegram they can easily get their prey, because Telegram is a communication platform that is very easy to reach and use by the wider community. It's not Telegram's fault, but it is the fault of these people. Actually not only Telegram, There are Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin etc. But the telegram is the easiest to attract people's attention.

Telegram has nothing to do with these scammers because no matter where you are you will still find some plenty of scammers. Scammers are everywhere no matter what apps you are using, people like them always find its way to scam people that's why it's up to us to be vigilant and report these scammers. I know it's not enough because there are other scammers that will eventually gonna pop out soon but at least you make the number to go down.

The title of this thread is misleading. I believe you meant why are there so many fraudsters on telegram. Telegram is a unique social media platform that is flexible and can be used by a variety of businesses. Fraudsters are everywhere. Not just on telegram.

Exactly. Beyond telegram there are thousands of ways scammers use to fraud with others. So we can't blame telegram. Actually I love telegram to communicate with my friends.

It's not a fault of Telegram. Actually some people uses this tool to scam others. Anyone can use telegram as because it's easier to use. People create fake account though temporary phone numbers to scam week souls. Many companies and projects uses telegram as a communication tool to spread their community and sometimes assist simple issues faced by community members. It's easier to do in telegram.

So Discord is preferred if you feel fraud.

I think some functionality such as ability to search and message anyone and also some bug that allow individual to keep adding people to a group without their permision makes it easy for fraudsters to use. I could remember some time ago, Discord was a prefered app for community groups but later interest was shifted to telegram and today a lot of scammers have also prefer telegram compare to any other app
