Hello, after a few attempts to transfer card money into BTC, today I received an email from wirex support team. That my funds on Visa card cannot be transferred into BTC wallet. So basically my money ($850 USD) is stuck on wirex.

The truth is that waiting for wirex to find a new partner is not acceptable. I understand that loosing visa support is a major issue. But you cannot hold my funds indefinitely.

You need to find a solution.
Thank you.

Maybe there is hope, look at this:
...

First of all, you are spamming quite a number of threads with this. Quite unexpected from a legendary member.
Also as legendary you should know it's not nice to advertise the competition in somebody's thread. Not forbidden, but not nice.

Now about your mail. I don't know about this TokenCard, but:

1. Since they are also not working, they don't worth mentioning. I know of a few that do work, they are mentioned in another thread you've posted this, you can read there.
2. You should know that Wavecrest cards were Europe-only lately and most Bitcoin card businesses were already working with others too. I know at least about Wirex and TenX. So again, your card is not worth mentioning.
3. Wirex was telling last year that new cards are about to come, so it should be near. Do you have an estimation from TokenCard?

Maybe there is hope, look at this:

Greetings all,

The vision for TokenCard has always been to marry the power of the Ethereum network with the global reach of the payments networks. This coupling unleashes onto the world a product of unparalleled financial access and control: from the (newly?) wealthy to those looking to regain control of their own finances, and by extent lives, the TokenCard is the epitome, the holy grail, of payment platforms.

This vision has always been a global one. To that end we have been on the lookout for an issuer that can provide us with the flexibility we need to complete this vision. In 2015, at the time of us first engaging our original issuing partner, WaveCrest, they had been able to help us fulfil this goal: through passive issuance we would be able to send cards to a near global market.

Over time WaveCrest’s situation evolved causing them to lose their ability to do global passive issuance; cards would only be sent within the EU. This however wouldn’t suffice for us, and we expedited our plans to work with larger and more sophisticated issuers with global reach.

Now, WaveCrest has been forced to indefinitely suspended all card activities, spelling the end of an era for them.

Today, with great excitement, we want to announce that we’ve been working in stealth on a new partnership with a prominent and large issuer. With our new partner we will have the ability to deploy cards globally. YES, that includes the US. China however is out with this one (but worry not 😉).

Alas, we had not intended to reveal our strategic launch plans this soon. We had wanted to announce the global rollout of TokenCard on the day we actually would be able to start shipping en masse.. for effect.

In short, the negatives:

Before we can launch we will need to complete API integration with the new issuer
A significant amount of time has been put into WaveCrest
Potential for panicky community
Positives:

API integration will be quicker thanks to lessons learnt and back end already being completely in place
Issuers are somewhat drag-and-droppable, little modification to the entire codebase is needed to get
The entire early mover advantage any competition had (Xapo, Wirex, Tenx) has been wiped away as their cards stopped working this morning. It has become a complete green field market, the clock has been reset and things are going to get juicy. The market is ours for the taking
WaveCrest is a large single point of failure since the bulk of crypto projects are with them. Moving away from this concentration decrease our risks accordingly. Additional issuers might be put in place in paralel.
We will be able to ship cards globally! This includes major markets such as the US and South Korea.
More sophisticated fulfilment and card material options.
NFC, contactless! Will be available from day 1! This is a big deal here in the UK, but also in Korea, Canada and Australia.
We are working fast to seize the moment. Stay tuned.

More details on country restrictions will follow.

To the team at WaveCrest I want to thank them for all their work. The team there is filled with stars who have simply found themselves in an unfortunate situation. Our engagement with WaveCrest stretches far back and our card product only just missed public deployment with them. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed working with their excellent team.

We wish you guys all the best. Truly.

Best,

Mel Gelderman and the Token team.

TL;DR The Token team was well prepared and has in stealth been working on a much larger partnership to bring the TokenCard to a global audience.

What will happen to a transaction that was sent to my card just before they were blocked? Will I still receive my money?

Since Wirex was announcing last year they'll have again cards for worldwide use, I hope that this means they work on a deal with another card issuer.

Wirex is shooting in the dark. New cards were announced in August. There are no cards or card providers, just fantasies. They had bitten off much more they can chew. That's why they will fall apart overnight.

The WaveCrest announcement to cancel all prepaid VISA cards sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency industry.

Even mainstream media has covered the story.

And many crypto-powered card providers might not even survive this event.

If you’ve been with Wirex since the beginning, you’ll know that we work hard and as fast as possible through all of the regulatory, compliance and technical challenges we face together in the new blockchain economy.

So we’re happy to announce that our business and developer teams have enabled full balance conversion from WaveCrest issued cards back into your secure Wirex bitcoin wallet.

If you have any fiat currency balance (USD, EUR, GBP) on one of the WaveCrest issued cards inside your Wirex account, you can now exchange those funds back into Bitcoin.

On Monday, any remaining card balances will automatically be converted back into Bitcoin.

Our webinar about the WaveCrest situation and our new product timeline was well received by our customer community.

I am left without words.

I've got an e-mail today. The card balances can be converted into Bitcoin and if I do nothing they'll be automatically converted Monday.
Of course, the conversion rates are their usual bad rates, containing their fees.
I tried to think positive of them, but yeah, you're right...

Wirex is happening. They charge in advance for something they call service and after awhile they decide they get bored and quit the service. Refunds are against their rules.

Hi, I used wirex for... not more than 10 days but I think it was good, I like the opportunity of converting BTC to EUR just when I need to.

BUT: your exchange rates are awful, it's something like 8% lower that coinbase.

AND: as my card is now useless, I withdrawn my BTC funds. You made me pay 0.001414 fee (that's more than many exchanges demand) and then you used a very low fee to pay the transaction, my wallet warns me it will be completed in an unknown amount of time (I hope not forever).
Seriously, do you really need to earn money also on transaction fees?

I am left without words.

Hi all!

Please check our official announcement here: https://wirexapp.com/card-suspension-update

Yesterday, our partner WaveCrest Holdings, Ltd., which provides our cards, was instructed by VISA to close all of its prepaid cryptocurrency-related and standard prepaid VISA debit card programs. The Wirex card is such a program.

WaveCrest did not provide us with any advance notice of this decision

Your funds are safe!

We’d like to assure you that all your funds are safe. Our team is working around the clock to ensure customer funds are transferred back from prepaid VISA accounts ASAP.

New cards are coming soon

We have been working with a new card issuer for the last couple of months and are close to being able to release our new cards. As part of this changeover, we can provide free replacement cards to all users who already have cards.

Refund for your ending card balance and for any outstanding card loads

We are instructing WaveCrest to ensure all card balances return to our cardholders quickly.

Wirex is offering card order fee refunds for all users who ordered on or after 1 December 2017. You will receive an email providing you with more details on this soon.

Verified users will still be able to buy bitcoin using your local bank card. We will be releasing our new verification process within the next week. Furthermore we will be increasing daily limits to $500 from Monday.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused. We greatly appreciate your support and thank you for your patience. We will soon release an update regarding our new replacement cards.

I got an email saying that all Visa card operations are not available at this moment, due to urgent communication from WaveCrest, what does this mean for my card and the balance on it?

This is pretty bad. I've read somewhere else that WaveCrest was notified by Visa to close all prepaid Visa cards. And this affects most Bitcoin cards.

Since Wirex was announcing last year they'll have again cards for worldwide use, I hope that this means they work on a deal with another card issuer. Maybe WaveCrest will allow at least to spend the existing funds, because else it's bad and unprofessional and it'll get difficult for Wirex.

Edit: I guess I hoped too much from WaveCrest. I am mad now.
Edit2: BitPay is in the same situation, they've sent a well-written e-mail to their customers, you can find it here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.27517895

I have received an email from the card issuer:
Quote

Subject: Closing of your Visa prepaid card

Dear Cardholder,

We, WaveCrest, are the issuer of your Visa Prepaid card, which you have enrolled for through one of our program partners. Visa have today instructed us that we must close all WaveCrest issued Visa Prepaid Cards with immediate effect.

How will this affect you?

Your WaveCrest-issued Visa Prepaid Card will no longer function.  However, as your funds were stored in your e-wallet they will remain accessible to you via your wallet provider.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

WaveCrest
