Have you heard of Superpicks on DSTV? where you can make predictions and win money without staking your money?

if you have not, check it out. Superpicks.com

My question is can it still be called gambling if it is not played with money?
You can say gambling if there is something at stake, both money and goods as a means to take advantage of what is done by two parties or more recently, it can be said as gambling, but if there are no goods or money at stake but you get the opportunity to guess or play but you get paid if you win and if you lose you don't charge anything, I think it's not gambling but you can say in other words you are like you are or are going to fish in a river or sea where you don't keep fish there and you only rely on luck to get fish that you never know whether there are fish or not.

Simple easy answer. What did you gamble then? So no, it is not gambling. For me, it is only accounted as gambling if we risked something, be it money or other kinds of stuff that has value. If you are playing something that enables you to earn money if you win, that is not gambling. It's like you join contests in sports, games, and other activities without gambling and yet you can earn if you win.

As much as there is nothing to lose then I don't see it as a gambling basically because the concept of gambling is staking and when there is staking involved, then there is risk and from the link you presented, it shows the pick is absolutely free and there is nothing to lose from the angle of the player and the fun and enticement of gambling isn't felt.
I think the games over there are just fantasy sports and merely just for entertainment and that isn't gambling.
Looking from the other hand, there are games that looks competitive but has no monetary attachments and just because a game seems competitive with maybe a prize to win doesn't make it gambling.

So it is a lot like fantasy football, but you are not actually betting on the games... you simply make a prediction and if your prediction is good, you win money that are being funded by DSTV or one of their sponsors.

I think this is done to introduce people to gambling, without having them actually risking any of their own money. So as soon as they get into it, it is a easy transition to the next thing... which is Sport betting.  Roll Eyes

If the prediction is just a prediction and does not use money, it is not gambling because there is no use of money in it.
But if you just make predictions, it might feel less exciting because there is no challenge factor.
I've never heard of Superpicks before, so I don't really know how interesting it is.
And if you just predict, you will probably place a bet based on your prediction because you want to find something else that will provide more fun.

Making a prediction, review, pick a number etc and win some money is called as giveaway.

Get a random number ticket and giving some money on a particular number is called as lottery.

Making a prediction, playing a game where you risk some money to earn more money is called as gambling.

So without money, it's called as giveaway.

You need money to gamble if there's money involved then it's just a game it's safe and you don't have to chase your losses and there's no reason for you to feel depressed, depression of losing money is attached to losing in gambling, you are not losing anything only your time, so there's no reason to treat it as gambling.
But this will gauge your character and your betting skill that will eventually lead you to gamble, so it's not gambling but a training ground for you to eventually gamble.

If there is no money or anything like your things or stuff is not involved, I think it is not gambling, as it should be having money or other stuff like a car or furniture to bet on as you are risking it just to win money. Also, I've seen the website that you mentioned, but I can't really tell if it is legit or not because, first, how come they can have pot money if they don't have money coming for their users? It is too good to be true, right? so i have doubts on it

I haven't heard of it, but the way you explain it, it doesn't appear gambling to me. If you all you need to do is predict, then you are not gambling at all. If you do not pay or if you don't buy a ticket or some kind of token that is convertible to money, then it isn't gambling. You are not risking anything. It is like a free raffle or contest or a giveaway.

I remember the Bitcoin price prediction game of El duderino_ before. Participants don't have to pay anything. All they have to do is predict. If they win, they will receive Bitcoin. That wasn't gambling. This is the same.

It's not gambling it's a site where you can practice your skill in predicting games if you're not a gambler and you are hitting 100% prediction you will be tempted if you see the amount you could have won if you bet with real money.
I don't use a prediction site because I'll be disappointed if I'm good and there's no money involved.
It's more challenging if you bet with real money because it just proves that you are confident in your bets.

Checking out the link and shows up that;
Correctly predict the score of 6 soccer matches to win up to N100 million!

I did make up some research about the currency which is Nigerian Naira (correct me if im wrong) which
they do give out 215,544.27  in USD with the current conversion if you do able to hit up 6 soccer matches
but of course i havent read up the entire terms about it.

About the question if its still gambling? No its not since you arent risking something.
I dont know on whats the catch on this one.

Do we need to look at the general meaning of gambling in some online dictionary to answer your question?  Grin I guess many replies above has answered your question already. When you are not risking something valueable in a game of chance, you are not gambling. What you are referring to here is not gambling obviously, we can say it as free quiz with prize or free contest with prize. Something similar that you can see in this crypto industry is the Majestic 7 promotion in Fortunejack where players predict goal scorers on 7 different matches to win free bet and $10k grand prize.

When you're predicting the outcome of some incident/sports/game then it is gambling. Only difference here is the money involvement which makes the gamble risk free. With money involved gambling the wrong prediction washes our money whereas with this kind of gambling we can enjoy as the win could reward and loss doesn't affect us.

This is functional for specific part/regions and I'm sure this is kinda promotion and later slowly we can see the platform taking away the free prediction and winning money through it.

Gambling is characterized either by staking something to win or by losing something you have staked. It's characterized by uncertainty. IMO, that's not a real gamble. Real gambling means you are giving something up to win something, and even in the process, you are not sure if you will be able to win or not. So in this case, what you are doing is just partially gambling but has a lot of real gambling characteristics.

I am familiar with superpicks and have tried it a couple of times. I think over the world cup, they had programs for the tournament and as the seasons run in the leagues, there are still selected games that are put out there for lovers of sports to predict the outcome and they get to reward the accurate or near accurate prediction.

That is technically not gambling. Why is that,'its because you've got nothing to lose'. That's gambling, you've got to have something to put forward as your stake and should be valued to the third party.

Supperpicks is just a prediction and win program. A give back there subscribers.

When you become so good at predicting it will eventually lead you to gamble, and that's where the gambling habit started you start making free spins and free rolls or free bets, and when you are hitting it right then you become curious if you are also good and you began to use real money.
But if you just use it as a hobby and you did not eventually lead you to use real money then it's not gambling at all but the temptation is always for you to use real money.

I like the site's look because before we enter the site, we are given the option to read the ToS or go directly to the site. Meanwhile, I went straight to the site to take a look inside.

If it's just predictions and we play with predictions without using money, it's not gambling. But it's like the Futuur site because it's a prediction site. I didn't check the account and just browsed from outside the site. But apart from that site, a pop-up window redirected the site to the betting site. Maybe the owners of both sites are the same.

Op have you or did you try the links and win the game or the prediction before coming here to tell other to check the link? My thought on the matter is, if you stake the game without money before you withdraw the wins, you will pay or deposit a specific amount which will enable a you to withdraw. Although I have not test the system which the op is trying to say but when I tried link it is not working .

I visited the website as I was curious to see how this works and how the platform can make profit from this and can't say I was surprised to see they are linked to Betking. I think this answers my questions!
BetKing has been flagged and red tagged for their shady activities and I wouldn't waste my time on this website too even if there is no money at stake.
Regarding your question, imo, it's not gambling since there is nothing mainly money) at stake.
